Chandigarh Administration to Introduce E-Stamping in City

Chandigarh (Mera Chandigarh): The Chandigarh Administration decided to introduce e-stamping in the city beautiful eliminating the prevailing physical stamping, which is time consuming, tedious process and susceptible to fraudulent practices.

The Chandigarh Home Secretary Ram Niwas has chaired a meeting regarding this on Wednesday. In the meeting it was decided to go ahead with the proposal and make amendment on lines of Karnataka State, which has already shifted to e-stamping, under India Stamp Act and send the draft notification to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.

It was informed that documents that require stamp duty include agreements, deeds of conveyances, certificate of sale, bill of exchange/lading, partition, power of attorney to sell immovable property, deed of settlement, transfer of lease, mortgage deed, insurance and letter of credit.
