Chandigarh (Mera Chandigarh): Chandigarh Administration has decided to celebrate Heritage Festival,’ in March 2009 remembering, Le Corbusier contribution in the Chandigarh concept.

Chandigarh (Mera Chandigarh): Chandigarh Administration has decided to celebrate Heritage Festival,’ in March 2009 remembering, Le Corbusier contribution in the Chandigarh concept.

According to information available with Mera Chandigarh administration has planned a week long ‘Heritage Festival in early March focusing on Corbusier’s work.
 
In this lieu, many Programme like seminars on architects/architecture, classical music performances will be held at following avenues in the city like Sector 17 Plaza, Leisure Valley, Sukhna Lake and the new lake Sector 42 and Beant Memorial Complex in Sector 42, Chandigarh.

It is to mention that this exercise may increase Chandigarh chances in UNESCO’s World Heritage City list.

It is to remember that Le Corbusier has created following urban structures in Phase-1 of the city beautiful are as under:
•    Uttar Marg on north-east
•    Dakshin Marg on south-west
•    Panjab University
•    Sector 25 Chandigarh
•    Industrial Area Chandigarh
•    Sector 26 Chandigarh
•    Capitol Park Sector 1
•    High court
•    Secretariat
•    Assembly buildings
•    Open Hand
•    Tower of Shadows
•    Martyrs Memorial
•     Sukhna Lake area
•    Leisure Valley
•    Cultural Centre, Sector 10
•    Govt Museum and Art Gallery
•    Govt College of Art
•     City Centre, Sector 17
