Chandigarh (Mera Chandigarh): The announcement of the Lok Sabha Poll dates by Election Commission of India on Monday has made Chandigarh Administration to chalk down various plans for the chandigarh residents , in lieu of the commencement of the  Lok Sabha polls in city beautiful Chandigarh.

The Election Wing of Chandigarh Administration has decided to install special electronic voting machines (EVMs) for visually impaired residents of the city.

As per the informed sources, the introduction of the special electronic voting machines (EVMs) for blind voters will help them to cast their vote in upcoming Lok Sabha polls independently and without anybody’s assistance. The special electronic voting machines will be equipped with Braille signage features on them, which facilitate blind voters to cast their vote with the help of Braille.

According to Administration Officials, the Braille signage feature machine is being used for the first time in Lok Sabha election and the administration will be conducting a detailed training programme for blind voters, in making them understand about the new voting concept.
