Chandigarh (Mera Chandigarh):- Former cop K.P.S. Gill, who was the police chief of Punjab during its worst period of insurgency, Friday, announced a new political movement to “cleanse the system of its ailments”.

Gill, who was the police chief of Punjab during its worst period of insurgency, Friday, announced a new political movement to “cleanse the system of its ailments”. Gill announced the launch of his nationalist movement named Tehreek-e-Watan Parastan-e-Hind.
“Our political system is plagued with so many ailments and there is a drastic need of such kind of movement to heal it,” Gill said.
“My movement is an initiative to oppose the widespread corruption and opportunism prevailing in the politics of our country. We will struggle against the participation of criminal and anti-national elements in democratic institutions and elections.”
“We will try to mobilize public support against corrupt leaders and against the political parties that provide electoral platforms to them,” said Gill.
Gill said police should have greater autonomy to do its work. “These days, our police is also blindly serving the political parties. There is an excessive political control over the police and our leaders are using the police to meet their vested interests. Our police should be free from any kind of political interference.”
On the recent spate of bomb blasts in the country, Gill said terrorism had become a global phenomenon and it was very difficult to put an end to it.
“As long as we have unemployed youths in the country, it wouldn’t be easy to prevent them going astray.”
