The President of the United States Donald trump did not rule out that he may travel to Israel for opening of new American Embassy in Jerusalem.

The move has caused widespread anger from Palestinian after Trump gave order in that direction few months ago.

Last week it was reported that the American delegation to the upcoming ceremony in Jerusalem will be led by Trump's son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner and his wife Ivanka, as well as by Secretary of the Treasury Steve Mnuchin.

While Israel regards Jerusalem as its "undisputed and undivided" capital, Palestinians say its status should only form part of a final peace agreement and the embassy move will wreck a two-state solution to the decades-old Middle East conflict. Instead, Trump authorized spending of up to $400,000 to renovate existing USA property in Jerusalem.

"The papers were put before me to sign an application for more than $1 billion to build an embassy", Trump said. "It's going to be attractive and it could be somewhat temporary", he said.

The president made these comments during a news conference at the White House with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The embassy is slated to open around Israel's 70th anniversary, on May 14.

He added: "As you know, the embassy in Jerusalem, it's been promised for many, many years by presidents".

"There is an apparent pattern of embassies moving to Jerusalem, and we have to start getting ready now", Gallant wrote, the Post said.

He told a story of being mid-signature on a document signing off on construction of the new facility when he noticed a billion-dollar price tag.

Trump said that when he questioned David Friedman, his pick to be the US ambassador to Israel, about the $1 billion cost, Friedman said that he could renovate an existing USA property for $150,000.

"He said I can build it for $150,000 - the embassy". We have a building, we have the site. And it will be somewhat temporary but it could be for many years.

"But that's the way government works".
