Farquhar is reportedly in stable but critical condition. "Farquhar has use of his extremities, is responding appropriately to questions and commands and is speaking to doctors and his family", the statement read.
Farquhar, 31, is expected to remain in the hospital's neurological unit for the next few weeks, according to the White Sox. Sox pitching coach Don Cooper called it "shocking" when Farquhar lost consciousness, and Renteria said he attempted to keep Farquhar from falling over until trainers and emergency medical technicians quickly surrounded Farquhar, carried him into the clubhouse and loaded him into an ambulance bound for the hospital.
The surgery was "successful", the White Sox said in a statement.
"He's a fighter, and he's in the fight of his life right now, " White Sox vice president Ken Williams said Sunday.
Patriots teammates have spoken with Brady about upcoming season
Let's get one thing out of the way off the bat: our money would be on Brady playing for the Patriots this year. The Patriots own plenty of draft capital (four picks in the first two rounds, including two first-rounders).
Farquhar was in the White Sox dugout Friday night during the sixth inning after appearing in the game and recording two outs versus the Houston Astros in the top half of the inning. "Right now he's being treated, and hopefully it's all going to be good". Danny Farquhar pitched in that game and fainted at some point in the dugout and was taken immediately to the hospital after EMT's looked at him. Farquhar was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 10th round in 2008 out of college. The right-hander is 10-15 with a 3.93 ERA in 253 career relief appearances with Toronto, Seattle, Tampa Bay and Chicago.
Fellow White Sox relievers hung up Farquhar's jersey in the bullpen during Saturday and Sunday's game. "He's a brother, he's one of our teammates and we're all here for him and his family". He said he addressed the players but kept the updates brief.
"I've had text messages from across the league", Shields said.
