Bezos and the e-commerce giant he founded have traditionally kept the number of Prime subscribers under wraps.
Prime members pay a monthly fee of $12.99 or an annual fee of $99, and receive access to free two-day shipping, free same-day delivery and Prime Video streaming, among other program benefits.
Patriots teammates have spoken with Brady about upcoming season
Let's get one thing out of the way off the bat: our money would be on Brady playing for the Patriots this year. The Patriots own plenty of draft capital (four picks in the first two rounds, including two first-rounders).
Prime subscribers are known to be more lucrative to Amazon, estimated to spend twice as much money every year than non-members, according to Consumer Intelligence Research Partners. The figure also confirms that Prime is one of the world's largest Internet subscriptions and a behemoth among online retailers. In an annual filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Amazon said its median employee brought home $28,446 in total compensation in 2017.
So, 13 years after launching, Prime has 100 million paying members. As of the end of September, Levin said Prime had an estimated 90 million US members alone.
As part of his letter, Bezos also said that for the first time in Amazon's history, its third-party marketplace a year ago accounted for more than half of its sales. The skill actually takes about six months to hone. "But high standards (widely deployed and at all levels of detail) are certainly a big part of it", Bezos wrote in the letter. This is the first time he's publicly stated how many Prime members the company has signed up. "Focusing on Prime membership is an excellent strategy for Amazon".
