The Pharaohs star will be competing for the title alongside Kevin de Bruyne, Leroy Sane, David Silva (Manchester City), David de Gea (Manchester United) and Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur).

Recall that Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante won the 2016/2017 Player of the Year award, with Tottenham's Dele Alli was voted Young Player of the Year.

The PFA awards will be revealed in a ceremony later in April.

Operating primarily on City's left flank, the 22-year-old Sane has really come into his own this season.

Former Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott said: 'It is hard to choose but De Bruyne pips Salah because he has helped City win the league'.

Considering he's not been a confirmed starter all season long, makes the aforementioned stats even more remarkable than they are.

De Bruyne tops the assist leaders with 15 and has also contributed seven goals, Silva has 11 assists and eight goals while Sane has 12 assists and nine goals.

National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating the incident. Arizona's governor suspended Uber's ability to test self-driving cars on public roads in the state following the crash.

Silva is the only one of the three to taste Premier League glory with City in the past, having been part of the squad which lifted the trophy in 2012 and 2014.

Some of his goals have certainly been clutch and ultimately will prove crucial in City's impending title triumph.

Steve Nicol explains why Mohamed Salah deserves player-of-the-year accolades over Kevin De Bruyne, despite Manchester City running away with the Premier League.

Salah, who joined Liverpool last summer from Serie A side Roma, has taken the Premier League by storm this season, scoring 29 goals to take his overall tally to 39 goals in 44 appearances on all fronts.

Kane trails him by four goals in the league and three goals overall for the season, and the two are competing with one another to claim the Premier League's Golden Boot. He's now leading the Golden Boot race, four goals clear of second-placed Kane.

De Gea has enjoyed another excellent campaign for United, and will be hoping to become the first goalkeeper to win the award since Peter Shilton in 1978.

His reward is a place on the Young Player of the Year shortlist.
