A United Airlines passenger bumped from a flight on walking away with a travel voucher isn't terribly surprising - except that hers was worth $10,000.
Allison Preiss began complaining on Twitter about being bumped from the flight, but her complaints stopped after she was offered a $10,000 travel voucher and a seat on the next flight, USA Today reported. "They are kicking me off this flight".
"If you've got a picture of the dog on the create, they're not going to put a poodle in a German shepherd's kennel", she said.
Iran Voices Regret after Turkish Private Jet Crashes
Huseyin Basaran, the company's third generation chief, is also the former deputy chairman of Turkey's Trabzonspor football team. A Turkish socialite and seven of her friends has died in a plane crash in Iran after celebrating her hen do in Dubai.
It was a happy ending for Preiss, who cracked wise about other recent publicized tales of United Airlines travel gone awry. The United agent subsequently told Preiss she could offer her up to a $10,000 voucher. She figured she could use it at the bachelorette weekend as they "tend to be pretty pricey", she wrote in an email. The airline also awarded her two $10 meal vouchers.
And federal officials also investigated United after a 10-month-old French bulldog died earlier this month after the pet was stowed in an overhead bin on a flight from Houston to NY.
United confirmed in an email on Friday that "yes, we issued" Preiss "this voucher per our policy". She was later told that she was bumped because there was a broken seat on the plane. "In that case, a good negotiation strategy is to start off by insisting on cash compensation, because the airline would rather offer you a larger amount in travel vouchers than in cash". She said she was thinking about going to Hawaii with her voucher.
