That's why March 10 is officially Mario Day!
Well, this isn't the first time Google has surprised us by customizing the appearance of Google Maps.
For a week starting today, one can replace the regular blue navigation arrow with an image of Mario riding a go kart.
The trick won't involve any bananas or red shells on the roads, but Mario will be a position marker worldwide in the Google Maps apps for a whole week.

The platform pushes a text alert to passengers about the scheduled ride, and the business provider typically covers the cost. Every year, 3.6 million Americans miss medical appointments because they don't have transportation.
That's because, in honor of "Mario Day" on March 10 (MAR10), Google has partnered with Nintendo to feature the most iconic video game plumber of all time on their "Google Maps" app.
Apart from this, Nintendo has also reduced the pricing of the Mario Run game for both the platforms with 50% of discount on its base price. At that point, the usual navigation arrow will turn into Mario himself. You'll then be prompted to use "Mario Time!" But remember, make sure to avoid sharing personal details like your home or work address (seriously, think before you post).
Back in 2015, Google Maps changed the position marker into either an X-Wing or a TIE fighter to celebrate the release of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". Last year, Google Maps also featured Ms. Pac-Man on April Fool's Day.
