For those looking to install the first developer preview, the software will need to be installed manually by flashing it to your device, though it's worth noting that Google is only making this available for four devices which are the Pixel and Pixel XL, as well as the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL.
Other notable Android P features/tools include: rich messaging notifications that highlight who is messaging, shows full conversations, and allows attachments of photos and stickers and even suggested smart replies; and the ability for developers to take advantage of indoor positioning in their apps so that they can track users indoors - with permissions - using a technology called Wi-Fi Round-Trip Time (RTT).
Last year, Google introduced a new neural networks API in Android 8.1 Oreo that provided developers with hardware-backed tools for machine learning. Once your phone knows the distance between three or more access points, Google says your position can be determined with an accuracy of one to two meters. The HEIF image encoding option will also be supported in Android P, as well. "JobScheduler then manages work according to the network status", the post said.
Additionally, Autofill improvements will offer better compatibility with password managers, and an implementation of the Open Mobile API will better support secure mobile payments.
The preview is very much a developer preview only with Dave Burke, VP of Engineering for Android calling it "an early baseline build for developers only", so prepare to flash this to a test device only.
Liverpool vs Porto, Champions League live score updates
We respect Porto too much and the competition too much to think about real rotation. I think this year we belong there [in the quarter-finals] to be honest.
ART performance: ART's use of execution profiles has been expanded to optimize apps and reduce in-memory footprint of compiled app code. Apple started using it by default with iOS 11, but there are still many apps that don't support it.
What are you hoping for in Android P?
Security for apps: A more consistent UI for fingerprint authentication across apps and devices. Google is also changing the defaults for Network Security Configuration to block all cleartext traffic.
Google is asking developers to make their app compatible with Android P so that their users can expect a seamless transition when they upgrade.
