From the front there's nothing to choose between the X3 and X4, there's a bit of a tweak down the flanks with restyled wheelarches, but at the back it's much better, with a smooth and nearly rounded look, new slimmer lights, relocated number plate and twin exhausts. A 10.25-inch touchscreen can be had along with a head-up display and three-zone climate control.

The most efficient is the X4 xDrive20d, powered by a 190PS diesel engine. There are even particulate filters, even for the petrol engines.

The vehicle will be offered with several different powertrain options.

The BMW X4 shares with these models not just the production location but also a leading role in terms of innovative concepts.

Prices have yet to be announced for the new BMW X4, but it's likely to cost about the same as the outgoing model. The petrol M40i will be the most-powerful engine, with 0-62mph taking 4.8 seconds while official economy is an optimistic 31.4mpg. The boot has a capacity of 525 litres and the load space can be expanded to a maximum of 1,430 litres by folding down the sections of the rear backrest, with its standard 40:20:40 split.

BMW X4 M40d: 3.0 litre, six-cylinder in-line diesel, eight-speed Steptronic transmission.

We started putting quality into their box, and in the end, it was a fantastic ball and a fantastic goal", said Dyche . Kyle Walker made a great run down the right flank and Kevin de Bruyne found him with a perfectly weighted pass.

The answer to the question nobody asked is back again, with BMW set to launch the second generation of its X4 crossover. A large, free-standing 10.25-inch infotainment screen is standard and dominates the center stack. BMW launched the X3-based X4 a couple years ago to compliment the larger X6, and the smaller X2 hits the road later this year. The figure rises to £55,315 for the range-topping X4 M40d trim. It will carry a price tag of $50,450. Wheel sizes range from 19-21 inches.

BMW is also including the Active Guard technology, which includes Frontal Collison Warning, Automatic City Collision Mitigation and Braking including Daytime Pedestrian Detection, and Speed Limit Information.

The reborn X4 also comes with an optional 2.2-inch touchscreen display on the vehicle key - great for showing off to casual acquaintances at the coffee shop.

We're in the middle of an avalanche of BMW X-cars.

The four-wheel-drive system operates in conjunction with a standard Performance Control function (which provides torque-vectoring) and BMW's Driving Experience Control system (which allows the driver choose between Sport, Comfort and Eco-Pro drive modes).

There's also a Driving Assistant Plus safety package available with features including steering and lane control assistant at speeds between 0 and 130mph, lane-keeping assist with active side collision protection, and crossing traffic warning and crossroads warning systems.
