The National Weather Service in Riverton has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the lower elevations of Natrona County until 8:00 a.m. Saturday.
A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for portions of the eastern plains, mountains and Palmer Divide until Sunday morning. Light freezing rain is expected Friday night after midnight, with little to no accumulation. We will see a break from the snow this evening, but another round of snow will blanket the area on Sunday with 1"-3" of new snow expected by Sunday evening.
Rain will mix with freezing rain/sleet, fog and some snow showers on Sunday.
Angola is the only county seat in the four-county area with consistent weather data dating to the late 1800s and early 1900s that enables the National Weather Service to provide historical context. The National Weather Service expects light amounts, but falling temperatures may lead to a glaze on our roadways. On the other hand, over the last winters, we haven't had a snow at this level. The heavy snow is forecast to move into upstate NY and New England by early Saturday. Snow develops in the central part this afternoon and continues tonight. It will be below freezing overnight and throughout the day Sunday.
Freezing drizzle mixed with snow is possible now through 3 a.m., the weather service said.
