As per the sources of Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, the 19-year-old Rayees Ahmad admitted to the hospital on Saturday. He was reacting to the filing of the FIR against Army personnel following the stone pelting incident at Shopian on Saturday.

BJP, however, has asked the government to withdraw FIR against the army and instead register a case against the stone pelters.

Ignoring the demand of her alliance members, Mehbooba Mufti said that the FIR lodged into the "unfortunate" Shopian killings would be taken to its logical end.

Several media outlets have quoted Lt Gen D Anbu, commander, Northern Command, saying "Army had conducted its own probe into the incident and arrived at the conclusion that the soldiers had to resort to firing after they were "provoked to the ultimate". The police have registered a case against the Army unit involved in the incident.

Talking to ANI, Swamy said that the incident is against patriotism, adding that if the Defence Minister does not clarify her stand by January 2 on the issue, then he will raise the matter in the house of the Parliament.

"Police had advised the Army not to take thre Ganowpora route". The FIR also named Army officer, Major Aditya, who was commanding the 10 Garhwal Regiment.

Shopian district magistrate Aijaz Ahmad will investigate the incident and record statements of the witness starting Tuesday.

"There has been no separate FIR but their version is taken on record", said Dinkar.

The officials said as per the norm followed by the Army in case of injury to its personnel during protests and damage to Government property a counter FIR is registered to present the Army version.

They said, however, private cars were plying on most of the roads in the civil lines area of the city.

Two youth were killed and nine others injured allegedly in Army firing at Ganovpora in Shopian on Saturday when a stone-pelting mob targeted a convoy. "Within no time, their number swelled to 200-250 persons", the spokesperson said. The huge mob surrounded an isolated portion of the convoy consisting of four vehicles. The mob tried to lynch him and snatch his weapon, it said.
