Kesha delivered an empowering debut performance on the Grammys stage Sunday night with an emotional rendition of her ballad "Praying" alongside Cyndi Lauper, Camila Cabello, Julia Michaels and Andra Day.
It's the kind of sentiment that is acceptable and laudable in 2018; in 2014, however, Kesha's crusade to bring down her alleged abuser was a startling outlier.
Rainbow was released before #MeToo, but has dovetailed with the beginnings of a reckoning for sexism, misogyny and abuse of power. Dr. Luke countersued, and as of now, Kesha still hasn't broken free of her contract. He has denied the allegations.

It was perhaps the most powerful Grammys moment we've seen in a while and was a tribute to a movement that isn't about individuals but is about changing a culture. This song is her comeback anthem, and we were hoping that it was going to win at one point during the awards show.
