Chairman Brian Breslin asked state Attorney General Bill Schuette to appoint an independent third party to investigate the school as soon as possible to see whether any other employees at Michigan State were complicit in allowing serial sexual predator Larry Nassar to abuse girls and young women on campus for almost two decades.
Michigan State athletic director Mark Hollis, one of the most innovative administrators in college athletics and the mastermind behind some of the most unique early season college basketball events, announced his resignation on Friday morning.
Hollis' retirement comes two days after MSU President Lou Anna Simon said she was stepping down after criticism of the way the school has handled the Nassar allegations since the late 1990s.
More than 150 of Nassar's victims gave emotional statements at his sentencing hearing in Lansing, Michigan.
Also Friday, USA Gymnastics confirmed that its entire board of directors would resign as requested by the U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC). More than 150 women and girls, including numerous athletes and Olympic gymnasts, have accused the former USA gymnastics team doctor of abuse.

USA Gymnastics said it reported the sexual abuse allegations to authorities when it learned about them.
Lorenzo Santavicca, president of the Associated Students of Michigan State University, told the crowd that - no matter the school's leadership - students are ultimately what defines the university.
