Still, more recently, many stars have spoken out about their past work with Allen, and some have said if given the opportunity, they would not choose to collaborate with him again.

The disgraced director issued a statement after Farrow revived the detailed claims that he had sexually assaulted her as a seven-year-old girl, at her mother's CT home in 1992, in her first full television interview.

There was a time, not so long ago, that actors clamored to be in a new Woody Allen project. Hall and Chalamet, who have parts in in Allen's next film, A Rainy Day in NY, which was scheduled to be released this year, said they would donate their salaries to charities.

Dylan's interview comes after Timothee Chalamet and Rebecca Hall, who both star in the director's upcoming film A Rainy Day in NY, publicly announced their intention to donate their salaries from the movie to the Time's Up movement, which helps victims of abuse and harassment seek justice, while Timothee has also split his between two other charities as well. Allen's estranged daughter, Dylan Farrow, renewed molestation allegations against him in 2014, claiming that the filmmaker sexually assaulted her after he and actress Mia Farrow adopted her when she was 7.

Allen was investigated over the allegation but never charged.

Dylan said she was gratified that fellow actors are finally speaking up after two decades. Dylan Farrow first pointed to her shoulder.

The letter was a big deal back in 2014, when letting survivors push back and go public about incidents of alleged abuse was not commonplace.

The announcement by Chalamet, a favourite Oscar contender for best actor this year, followed a similar one Friday by his co-star Hall. But it's unfair and sad to me.

Colin Firth has announced that he will never collaborate with Woody Allen again. I can not begin to imagine how you have felt, all these years as you watched someone you called out as having hurt you as a child, a vulnerable little girl in his care, be lauded again and again, including by me and countless others in Hollywood who praised him and ignored you.
