Welcome back Ranger! 2019 Ford Ranger shows off ahead of its Detroit show debut

Details about the 2019 Ford Ranger's return to the American market are still being tightly controlled.

A few days ago, we predicted that there might be a new Ford Mustang Bullitt unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show, and we were right. US sales are up 83 percent since 2014 as a new generation of midsize truck buyers seek more maneuverable, fuel-efficient pickups. "The all-new Ranger is designed for today's midsize truck buyer, delivering even more utility, capability and technology for those who blend city living with more off-the-grid adventures on weekends".

"Ranger's FX4 Off-Road Package features an innovative Terrain Management System similar to the F-150 Raptor's". But Ford pulled it from the market because gas prices were high and it saw demand dwindling. Now, Ford says there's rising demand for a smaller, more maneuverable and more affordable truck than its massive F-150.

Powering the new vehicle will be a 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine which will be paired with a 10-speed auto transmission.

There will be two cab configurations, a SuperCab extended cab and a SuperCrew crew cab, and three trim levels, XL, XLT, and Lariat. Analysts say that the buyers for a midsize truck are more interested in sports or off-roading while the full-size truck buyer usually uses the vehicle for work. In addition, there was only so much that Ford could do when it came to outfitting the truck with enough tech to meet more stringent safety and emissions standards. In general, transmissions are more efficient with more gear ratios because that allows the engine to spend more operating time with its most efficient speed.

Winter Storm Watch In Effect For Friday
Between 2-4 inches of snow is forecast for Friday into Saturday in the Pittsburgh area, the National Weather Service says. Snow will begin in northwestern Kansas around 10 PM, with rain showers out ahead of that for central Kansas.

The site also reveals the available colors for the Ford Ranger. The package also includes a new "trail control", which acts as an off-road cruise control by accelerating or braking to maintain a set speed while traversing gravel or mountain trails.

Ford states fuel-consumption concerns and America's distate for diesel following the Volkswagen emission scandal as reason for its smaller and exclusive engine offering.

Rear- and 4-wheel drive with low-range gearing will be offered, and it all sits on a high-strength steel ladder frame.

On the inside, you'll find a modern cockpit (and a significant upgrade from what was available in the last Ranger) complete with Ford's Sync 3 infotainment system.

The Ranger will include a host of new technology, such as a standard 4G-connected Wi-Fi hot spot, FordPass Connect and pre-collision assist technology as well as a number of other optional driver-assist features. "And that's before we introduce it in the biggest truck market in the world, which is the U.S.".
