The handful of images that Jeep released Tuesday show a 2019 Cherokee with angles baked into its seven-slot grille, headlights and LED running lamps integrated into a single unit, and revised taillights.
The Cherokee will debut in full at the 2018 North American International Auto Show in Detroit on January 16. Well let's keep the trail-rated Trailhawk version with blackened hood aside for now. The Trailhawk also seems to have a slightly higher ride height for better capability on tough terrain.
In a few weeks, we will know everything that there is to know about the refreshed 2019 Jeep Cherokee, but for now, those folks who didn't like the 2014-2018 front end should be far happier with the new face of the midsized SUV. There's now a closer family resemblance with the latest Compass and Grand Cherokee.
Clear Bay Area skies to offer great view of Geminid meteor shower
The Virtual Telescope said: "To make this meteor shower of particular fashion and very special this year is a nice coincidence". According to scientists, Geminids have a much slower speed than other meteors and typically come in at an angle in the sky.
Inside, the updates are fairly minor.
All the company will say is the updated Cherokee sports a "new, authentic and more premium design, along with even more fuel-efficient powertrain options".
The Jeep formula, an inheritance of 75 years of building off-road capable vehicles, is still there. The Jeep brand delivers an open invitation to live life to the fullest by offering a full line of vehicles that continue to provide owners with a sense of security to handle any journey with confidence. A redesigned rear bumper and what appears to be elongated exhaust pipe finishers complete the revisions at the back of the 2019 Cherokee. Today's Cherokee offers a 2.4-liter four-cylinder or 3.2-liter V-6, both paired to a nine-speed automatic transmission; whether such language signals the Wrangler's forthcoming 3.0-liter diesel option remains to be seen.
