Port Authority attack suspect: What we know about Akayed Ullah

Major streets are closed and subway service changes are in effect following an underground explosion near Port Authority area in New York City.

Despite it being rush-hour at the time of the explosion, only three people suffered minor injuries. "Thanks to the quick response of these fearless Port Authority Police officers, the suspect was apprehended, there were no serious injuries and the PABT was secured without further incident", O'Toole said.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said: "This was attempted terrorist attack", adding that there was no additional threat at this time.

- "I did it for the Islamic State", Ullah told investigators, according to the federal complaint.

Police identified the suspect allegedly behind the NY bus terminal explosion as Akayed Ullah, 27, and said the attack appears to be isolated.

The family also says it's outraged by the way it was targeted by law enforcement, including pulling a teenage relative from class and questioning him without a parent, guardian or attorney present.

The New York Police Department said in its official Twitter feed that there was an explosion of unknown origin and that some subway train lines were being evacuated.

Mr Trump also said he is expelling members of the violent street gang known as MS-13, which has its origins in Central America. Several women have accused Moore of sexual misconduct, and pursuing them when they were teenagers and he was in his 30s .

Times Square-42nd Street/Port Authority Bus Terminal is the city's busiest station complex in the Metropolitan Transportation Authority system.

"America must fix its lax immigration system, which allows far too many risky, inadequately vetted people to access our country", he said. "Info is preliminary, more when available".

Police said he had a crude improvised device attached to his body using Velcro and zip ties and said video shows him walking down the passageway when the device exploded.

"I heard boom and saw smoke and we all started running up the steps", Bethea said. "They said 'suspicious package'". "The reality turns out to be better than the initial expectation and fear", said New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo.

On Oct. 31, eight people were killed and a dozen more injured after a truck plowed into pedestrians near the World Trade Center.

"You got to live your life", she said.
