North Korea is reportedly open to direct talks with the USA over its nuclear ambitions, according to Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov, who delivered his message to United States secretary of state, Rex Tillerson during their meeting in Vienna on Thursday.
The UN Undersecretary General for Political Affairs, Jeffrey Feltman, on Saturday concluded his five-day visit to North Korea, during which both parties agreed to remain in regular contact.
While the Security Council has strengthened sanctions against North Korea, 13 countries, including Angola, Cuba, Iran, Myanmar and Syria, were found to have military ties with Pyongyang, which continues nuclear and missile development programs.
Earlier, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) released a statement of North Korea's foreign ministry official that said that the statements made by American high-profile officials and the joint drills conducted by the United States and South Korea show that Washington is trying to trigger war on the Korean Peninsula which North Korea will not be hiding from.
Making the highest-level United Nations visit to the North since 2010, Feltman arrived in Pyongyang Tuesday for a four-day visit through Friday.

Pictures and video on social media showed armed officers at Oxford Circus station and people being led away from Oxford Street . The area, full of big-name chain shops and department stores, was packed with shoppers browsing Black Friday sales.
Feltman arrived in Pyongyang on Tuesday for a four-day visit. Feltman, who left Pyongyang earlier today, has yet to comment on his trip. But US State Department Spokesperson Heather Nauert expressed a somewhat different perspective during the daily press briefing on December 7.
On Wednesday, he met with North Korean Vice Foreign Minister Pak Myong-guk and Russian Ambassador to Pyongyang Alexander Matsegora.
"We have channels, through which we are conducting a dialogue, and we are ready to deploy them, we are ready to exert our influence on North Korea", Morgulov was quoted as saying at a conference in Berlin.
B-1Bs flyovers have become an increasingly familiar show of force to North Korea, which after three intercontinental ballistic missile tests has clearly moved closer toward building a nuclear arsenal that could viably target the USA mainland.
