Microsoft unveiled the new PCs, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset using ARM architecture at an event in Hawaii today. As CNBC notes, Microsoft's partnership with Qualcomm stands out, as the tech giant typically gets its chips from Intel and AMD.
Microsoft's Windows 10 on ARM PC platform is set to launch very soon, with the main promise being able to run any Windows software despite running on a non-x86 processor. Frost didn't mention a stylus, but the machine was pictured with such a pen attached to its case, so it probably supports Windows Ink.
Both of these devices will come preinstalled with Windows 10 S but will allow for a one-time upgrade to a full Windows 10 license which will allow users to install non-Windows store applications.
As a result, first impressions from the new devices aren't hugely different from any other Windows 10 device.
On the specs front, the Envy X2 is definitely the more premium-looking of the two models, and has a 12.3-inch 1920 x 1280 pixel display with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

Leclerc is a current member of the Ferrari Driver Academy, and he is widely considered one of the future stars of Formula One .
The ASUS NovaGo, however, features a more traditional thin-and-light notebook design with a 360-degree hinge.
The big unknowns at this point, other than whether or not HP's battery life claims hold up to our own lab tests, is how the Snapdragon chip will stack up performance- and price-wise compared with competing Intel-powered PCs.
The HP Envy x2 can be detached and turned into a tablet.
The NovaGo will have a 4X4 MIMO antenna array for high-speed, Gigabit-class 4G connectivity and will have up to 256GB of UFS 2.0 storage and 8GB of RAM. To see how all of that works, we'll have to spend more time with these machines.
Microsoft has not said when the devices will be available for purchase or released pricing details for the PCs, which run an "optimized" version of Office 365.
