Google has launched a new app which can save the mobile data in your smartphone totally just by itself.

In a rather user-friendly move today, Google has changed its Play Store policies and no longer allows apps that place obtrusive ads on your handset's lock screen.

Google is taking aim at the "next billion" internet users with a way to stop smartphone apps from needlessly burning through costly mobile data allowances.

This app is great if you live in a country where mobile data is expensive, however, this is also a great option for those who want to micro-manage their mobile data usage irrespective of how expensive or cheap mobile data is in their country. It can also inform users of nearby Wi-Fi hotspots, which in turn will help users save data. Over time, Datally will learn your usage patterns and offer more recommendations to save data. These processes are mainly handled by apps that are installed and accessed by different built-in services like Calendar, Camera, Contacts, etc. Switching on Data Saver blocks background data and lets users fully control which apps use data.

If you haven't already enabled the data saver feature for mobile data, you can do so from there as well.

USA cable and telecom companies have been buying up media assets and launching advertising businesses in the past several years. The NBCUniversal parent is also eyeing Fox's movie studio, cable networks and its regional sports network.

The Datally app takes about 6MB of space, so it's easy on your phone's storage. It essentially gives you a list of all Wi-Fi networks in the area.

While other finance apps boasted of one of a kind features, Google Finance only provided the basic functionalities. The app will also alert you via notifications when apps start eating data as well as giving them a neat summary of daily, weekly and monthly data usage. Having a separate app would help you in setting up restrictions for data usage as well.

Once the Data Saver is turned on, the Datally's Data Saver Bubble which serves like a speedometer will appear when a user goes into an application in which it will show the running data usage of the certain app.
