No text is worth your life and troopers of the South Carolina Highway Patrol are determined to save as many as they can with a mission this holiday week to curb texting-and-driving behind the wheel.
People are urged to wear seat belts, avoid drinking or driving under the influence of drugs and avoid driving distractions inside vehicles.
"We want people to recognize this is lives lost", said Harris Blackwood, Ex. Director, Governor's Office of Highway Safety.
In addition to those killed on Georgia roads a year ago, 1,755 people were injured in 5,011 crashes last holiday period.
From 11 a.m.to 11 p.m. Wednesday coast to coast, troopers will be out in force.
Turnipseed says the heavier traffic is why troopers put a more intense focus on the holiday enforcement period.

Officials said there weren't any fatalities a year ago during the two-day campaign.
VDOT's Thanksgiving traffic trends map shows that Tuesday evening and midday Wednesday are among the busiest times on Virginia highways for heading out of the D.C. area.
Over the past several years, the Patrol has used special traffic enforcement projects to further their efforts to decrease traffic crashes and fatalities. More than 600 individuals were killed on Garden State roads throughout all of 2016, compared to 562 in 2015.
The challenge has NC, Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California placing troopers at least every 20 miles on I-40 from Wednesday to Sunday during the most heavily-traveled periods.
