I-T officials said the raids under "Operation Clean Money" targeted shell firms belonging to 10 groups, including those run by members of Sasikala family.

Apart from the office, IT officials are also searching Sasikala's nephew Vivek Jayaraman residence in Chennai and Jazz Cinemas, which is also owned by her family.

The Income Tax department on Thursday conducted raids at the office of Jaya TV channel in Chennai in connection with alleged tax evasion.

Clarifying that raid was not conducted at his Chennai house, he said searches were on at his farmhouse in Puducherry and other places. Jaya TV, which was named after late chief minister Jayalalithaa and was the party's mouthpiece, is now perceived to be favourably politically disposed towards Sasikala and Dhinakaran.

Now, the EPS-OPS factions and the TTV Dinakaran faction are all locked in a battle to claim the iconic "two-leaves" symbol of the AIADMK.

Raids are also being conducted at the Domlur residence of Pugazhendi, AIADMK Karnataka in-charge. While initially part of the Sasikala faction, the vast chunk for the AIADMK rank and file, led by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, has since split with the Sasikala family and joined hands with the former rebels, led by O Panneerselvam.

Nanjil Sampath, senior MLA close to Dinakaran said the raids were not surprising at all.

Meanwhile, at Mannargudi in Tiruvarur district, raids were conducted at the houses and office premises of Sasikala's husband M Natarajan, her relatives including Mahadevan, Venkatesan and Divakaran and a former councillor of Thanjavur.
