Attacks on the "fake news" media have become a staple of the Trump administration - and almost half of voters, including the vast majority of Republicans, believe the president when he claims that the media is making up stories about him.

Yet despite Trump's constant rhetorical assault on the media, trust in some news organizations has risen during the president's time in office.

The poll found that the divide is very partisan - 76 percent of Republican voters think the news media invents stories about Trump and his administration, while just 11 percent don't think they make up stories.

According to the poll, 46 percent of voters believe the news media makes up stories about Trump and his administration, while 37 percent of voters do not believe the media fabricates stories.

Among voters who said they strongly approve of Trump's job performance, 85 percent said the media invents stories about the president and his administration. 44 percent of Independents and 20 percents of Democrats responded similarly.

Those seeking to know the motive of Las Vegas gunman Stephen Paddock have had little more to chase than hints and shadows. They observed the suspect down on the ground and also saw a second door that could not be accessed from their position.

Moreover, NBC News published a story last week alleging Secretary of State Rex Tillerson's decision to resign.

The President's claims on Wednesday are nothing new.

"With all the Fake News coming out of NBC and the Networks, at what point is it appropriate to challenge their License?"

"Actually, dishonesty in the media is one of the things that surprised me the most", he said Tuesday. They've gone insane. CNN is a joke. "But the media is absolutely dishonest - and frankly, I've never seen anything quite like it".

The online poll, surveying a total of 1,991 registered voters, has a 2 percent margin of error.
