Cowboys have highest value in National Football League, according to Forbes

The Dallas Cowboys ranked highest among NFL teams with an estimated value of $4.8 billion and a league-high operating income of $350 million. The were followed by the the Patriots ($3.7 billion), the Giants ($3.3 billion), the Redskins ($3.1 billion), the 49ers ($3.05 billion), the Rams ($3 billion) and then the Bears.

Despite a Super Bowl hangover that the Carolina Panthers couldn't quite shake last season, the team's net worth has surged to $2.3 billion.

This year marks the 11th straight year that the Cowboy's are the NFL's most valued franchise.

Teams with new or renovated stadium salso saw a rise in value. Current owner Jerry Jones paid a reported $140 million to purchase the team in 1989. The team rose in value by 16 percent thanks to the opening of Mercedes-Benz Stadium and the sponsorship dollars committed.

Around the rest of the NFC North, the Chicago Bears rank seventh at $2.85 billion, the Green Bay Packers are 13th at $2.55 billion and the Minnesota Vikings come in at 18th at $2.4 billion.

Despite rough times the last few years, the team is still one of the most valuable in all of sports. The NFL's income of $3.2 billion is $500 million more than the combined earnings of teams in the NBA, NHL and Major League Baseball. Rounding out the global top five, according to Forbes, is Manchested United ($3.69 billion) and FC Barcelona ($3.64 billion).
