Pakistan has hosted only one global series since terrorists attacked a bus carrying the Sri Lankan national cricket team.
"The magnificent victory in the ICC Champions Trophy [in June this year] coupled with the Test team's top ranking [for a brief period last year] lifted our cricket to a new level and now the world [teams] want to play series with Pakistan", he said.
Earlier, Pakistan, sent into bat by the World XI, scored 183-4. Most of these players have shown positive attitude towards playing in Pakistan and are excited about being a part of this monumental series.
In the second T20 match, Sri Lanka all-rounder Thisara Perera hit a towering six off the penultimate ball to steer the World XI to a thrilling seven-wicket win.
Spain seeks to strike down independence bill
The bill was submitted to the parliament outside of its normal schedule which prompted criticism from opposition parties. Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy called on Spain's constitutional court to nullify the bill the moment it was agreed.
On Friday, the World XI, chasing a target of 184, never got going as they could manage to score only 150/8 in their 20 overs. Before their final match both teams have a day-off. "ICC will be extending help to Pakistan for the return of worldwide cricket and it will be persuading the other cricket playing nations to visit Pakistan in due course of time", said the ICC official.
Security fears with militants disturbing the peace at regular intervals had forced foreign teams to stay away from Pakistan.
"The agreement with the West Indies Cricket Board has been finalised and done and they have confirmed they will come to Lahore in November to play three T20 Internationals", PCB chairman Najam Sethi said.
According to some media reports, the PCB is spending US$2.5-3 million for staging the three-match Independence Cup against World XI.
Both matches of the much-awaited series - which is being hailed as a stepping stone towards the revival of top-level global cricket in Pakistan after a gap of eight years - have remained high-scoring affairs. "It will be good for the children to see their heroes play", he hoped.
