A 1-0 defeat by Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday left Palace with a return of no points and no goals scored from their first four league games of the season - the worst start to a campaign by any team in Premier League history.
But Wood was not the only hero on the day as Burnley had to dig deep and ride their luck at times to keep a first clean sheet in the league this season and consign Palace to a fourth successive defeat without scoring a goal.
It has been reported that former England manager Roy Hodgson could be under consideration to take over from De Boer should results not improve this weekend.
"I have always had serious conversations with Steve - one day in the week we come together and talk about what's going on", De Boer told a pre-match news conference ahead of the trip to Burnley.
"The future is for other people to decide but while I'm the manager of Crystal Palace I will give 100 per cent".
Spain seeks to strike down independence bill
The bill was submitted to the parliament outside of its normal schedule which prompted criticism from opposition parties. Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy called on Spain's constitutional court to nullify the bill the moment it was agreed.
Crystal Palace face a Burnley side that have started the season impressively, and the encounter at Turf Moor will be a hard one.
Burnley were gifted the lead after just three minutes when Lee Chung-yong, under pressure but in no real trouble near the half-way line, tried to find Wayne Hennessey. Just a few weeks ago he was the right man and you have to stick with him, show him he believes in him - he has not had any sort of chance, I just don't want chance he had.
Yet at home they have yet to score a goal or earn a point. Its best chance fell in the 89th minute to Scott Dann, who glanced a header wide from inside the six-yard box.
If this was De Boer's farewell, it seemed a strangely fitting way to go. "Everybody says you play 3-4-3 but if you see the players I put into our squad, our wing-backs were defenders, so normally you can say I play 5-2-3".
"Sometimes, though, as a manager you need to have time as well to build something, to create a certain atmosphere within the group and a certain belief to do well and get results". "We all want to rush through this game and every player, every media outlet, they all want players to be exceptional within three games of playing professional football".
At the time of his appointment, it seemed unusual that Crystal Palace would go for somebody like De Boer.
