NASA says International Space Station Crew ready for Total Solar Eclipse

Because the station orbits the earth every 90 minutes, the astronauts saw partial views of the eclipse three different times, with different levels of coverage each time. The six humans hurtling around the Earth on board the International Space Station were part of the spectacle as well.

But, in an interview from Houston today, the 35-year-old Albertan said the plan after the space station is already starting to be defined.

Station transits sun at 5 miles per second in video taken at 1,500 frames per second with high-speed camera from Banner, Wyoming.

In what might become known as one of the greatest space photobombs of all time, the solar eclipse that gripped the USA on Monday may have been upstaged.

Two, even. And on Monday NASA and the European Space Agency deployed their resources on the ground and in space to capture the eclipse, doing so in stunning fashion.

A total solar eclipse is seen on Monday, August 21, 2017 from onboard a NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center's Gulfstream III 25,000 feet above the OR coast.
