Germany's Christian Democrats and Social Democratic Party - the two ruling parties - as well as the Greens "are all enemies of Turkey", Erdogan said Friday in televised remarks directed at about 1 million German voters of Turkish origin.

"You should give them best lesson at the ballot box by using your democratic right optimally", he said in his address in the southwestern Denizli province on Saturday. "Vote for those who don't have enmity towards Turkey".

Disputes between Berlin and Ankara prompted Germany to move their military aircraft and roughly 250 troops from Turkey's Incirlik airbase to Jordan in July.

Atila Karaborklu, the co-chairman of Germany's Turkish Community association, accused Erdogan of "seeking to divide German society".

A number of German citizens have been detained and arrested in Turkey since the coup attempt.

Addressing Merkel as "Madam", Erdogan said the Turkish authorities had sent Germany dossiers on 4,500 suspects wanted for extradition to Germany on terror charges and received no answer. It was not clear why.

Merkel has also said there would be no expansion of a customs union or deepening in EU-Turkish ties, comments which infuriated Turkey.

"I wondered if we should still meet here today" after Thursday's attacks that left 13 dead and more than 100 injured, said the German leader on the sidelines of a campaign event in Berlin ahead of a September 24 general election.

But they have been in broad agreement on the policy regarding Turkey within the country's grand coalition.

"Erdogan's interference in Germany's electoral campaign shows that he wants to incite people in Germany against each other", he told the RedaktionsNetzwerk media group, as quoted by AFP. Community leader Atila Karaborklu accused Erdogan of wanting to divide Germany's Turkish communikty.

Ozdemir had previously pressed Ankara to recognise the World War I killings of Armenians as genocide.
