St. Louis had an 11-3 win on Monday and then followed it up with a 10-3 victory last night.

The Cardinals paid their respects to their new mascot, relasing a tribue video to Rally Cat towards the end of the game.

They trailed the Kansas City Royals 5-4 in the bottom of the sixth inning. Luke Hackmann, the grounds crew member summoned to retrieve the cat, took a few bites and scratches to his hand.

But while the blast was consistent with Molina's recent hitting performance, it was the cat, not the catcher, that received the lion's share of the credit.

It was the Cardinals fifth straight win, pushing them into a second place tie with Milwaukee and now just 1 1/2 games out of first place behind the Cubs. Yadier Molina led the way coming into Wednesday with 102 hits, 45 runs, 13 homers and 50 RBI, while Jedd Gyorko had 95 hits, 42 runs, 15 homers and 55 RBI.

A curious cat delayed a baseball game after it sprinted onto the field mid-play - and turned rather feisty when it was made to leave.

"Our grounds crew is working on developing a stray animal protocol to ensure the safety of both crew and animal should that happen again".

RT @Cut4: So the cat has to be named Yadi now, right? As for Rally Cat, we're told she's been safely delivered to the Humane Society.

All this cat wanted was a little love from LoCain.

"It's really fun to come to the park every day", first baseman Matt Carpenter said.

Moments later, the Cardinals crowned the animal interrupted its rally cat.

"I just want to find him", she said.
