Fox News' Eric Bolling has filed a defamation lawsuit against the reporter whose article accused him of sending lewd text messages to female co-workers.

The summons, which was filed Wednesday in NY state court, says Bolling is seeking both damages and injunctive relief arising from Ali's efforts to injure his reputation through "intentional and/or highly reckless publication of actionable false and misleading statements" about his conduct and character.

According to the summons, Bolling has accused Ali of injuring his reputation through "the intentional and/or highly reckless publication of actionable false and misleading statements about [his] conduct and character". The story relied on over a dozen sources who described how the women allegedly received the unsolicited text message of male genitalia from Bolling. Less than 24 hours after its publication, Fox News suspended Bolling pending the results of an internal investigation.

The summons also said Bolling was "substantially harmed" by Ali's article. Ali noted in a tweet that he's named in the suite, HuffPost isn't.

"Yashar Ali is a paid freelancer under contract with HuffPost", Polgreen added. Bolling's shows, Fox News Specialists and Cashin' In, were taken over by special fill-in guests.

His attorney Michael Bowe told DailyMail.com on Monday: 'Mr.

"Not going to stop reporting on Eric Bolling or anyone else", Ali tweeted.

Bolling was a former commodities trader who worked as an on-air personality for CNBC before joining Fox Business when it launched in 2007.

21st Century Fox says it has made sweeping changes to its human resources practices as a result of the Ailes scandal.

One of those accusers is Caroline Heldman, who was a frequent contributor on Fox News between 2008 and 2011.

Fox News has retained the services of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison, a prominent law firm with prior experience in handling legal cases in the entertainment industry, to head the investigation.

Onetime host Gretchen Carlson sent shock waves throughout the media in July 2016 with a suit against the network and Ailes alleging she was terminated for "refusing Ailes' sexual advances". When Weiner pleaded guilty earlier this year to sending obscene material to an underage girl, Bolling said he was a "sick human being, to continue to do this time and time again".
