Trump reportedly decided that his son should tell the media that the issue of Russian adoption was discussed at the meeting, rather than any campaign issues.

TheHill.com reports that during Monday's press briefing, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders indicated work on the promised $1 trillion infrastructure package will likely be delayed until next year, after the legislature takes care of tax reform.

Trump issued a second statement on the bill, attacking the bill further.

Trump has maintained that he learned of the meeting just days before The Times first reported on it, and previous reporting suggested he had merely signed off on the statement.

Mr Trump rushed to his son's defence and lambasted what he calls a political "witch hunt".

"I'll let any rational individual make a judgment", Warner said.

Appearing on ABC's "Good Morning America" the same day, Mr. Sekulow said: "The president didn't sign off on anything".

A British judge is set to rule on where Charlie Gard , a baby with a rare genetic disease, will spend the last days of his life. Great Ormond Street Hospital said it was not practical to provide life-support treatment for days at the couple's home.

President Donald Trump has told members of his New Jersey golf club that he spends so much time away from Washington because the White House is a "real dump".

"He certainly didn't dictate, but. he, like I said, weighed in, offered suggestion, like any father would do", said Sanders.

Trump worked with aides on the statement on Air Force One while returning to the USA from the Group of 20 Summit in Hamburg on July 8.

The White House admission that the president was involved at all would appear to be a contradiction to what one of the president's attorneys said.

Trump has refused to endorse the US intelligence community findings that Russian Federation led a cyber campaign to influence the presidential election in his favor, and he has not announced any of his own punishments against the Kremlin.

That admission from Sanders contradicts what she and Trump's lawyer, Jay Sekulow, have been saying for weeks: that Trump had nothing to do with Trump Jr.'s statements about his meeting. Russian government officials, including President Vladimir Putin, have denied the allegations, both in the press and to President Trump directly. "I'm assuming that was between Donald Trump Junior, between Don Junior and his lawyer".
