According to the City of Kent Health Department, two mosquito pools have tested positive for West Nile Virus. No human cases have been reported.
Four out of five people infected with West Nile virus will not show any symptoms.
IL public health director Nirav Shah says recent floodwaters in northern IL may produce mosquitoes but those don't carry West Nile virus.
The recent flooding in Lake County can create "ideal conditions" for mosquitoes to breed, including the presence of standing water and hot weather, said Mark Pfister, the Lake County Health Department's executive director.
"Symptoms they're typically going to be mild", Department Spokesperson Melaney Arnold said. Missouri had 11 cases and no deaths in 2016.

Most people become sick with the West Nile Virus in August and September. Symptoms of West Nile are similar to the flu. The mosquitoes that carry this virus are common throughout the state, and are found in urban as well as more rural areas.
Drain standing water in yards that can collect in old tires, potted plant trays, pet dishes, toys or buckets.
At least two blood donors in Minnesota have tested positive for West Nile virus, according to the Centers for Disease Control. People need to be vigilant about personal protection.
Outdoor activities at dusk or dawn, when mosquitos are most active, should also be avoided.
Public health is also advising that people use bug spray that uses DEET, as well as covering up with light coloured long sleeves and trousers when in wooded areas, or places where mosquitos are often seen.
