Word of the homes destroyed by the Wall Fire just east of Oroville in Butte County came after fire crews and damage inspection teams were able to survey the destruction. Wildfires have also put mining companies in the region on watch - though no mines have fully closed to date - and interrupted rail service in some areas with a closure on the former B.C. Rail line now operated by CN Rail that stretches from North Vancouver across the Cariboo plateau.
Speaking to the photos on social media showing firefighters at a campfire despite the campfire zone, Skrepnek said that the issue will be investigated.
"Unfortunately, in terms of the weather forecast, we're not really seeing any reprieve in the immediate future", he said. "The ministry is taking the matter very seriously".

Crews battled dozens of wildfires raging across California on Wednesday, gaining ground on several of the more destructive blazes as forecasters warned that hot, dry, tinderbox conditions would persist across the U.S. West.
In a statement issued on July 9, the minister said: "On behalf of the Federal Government, the Minister of National Defence, the Honourable Harjit Sajjan, and I have accepted a request for federal assistance in dealing with the wildfire situation from my provincial counterpart, Todd Stone, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure and Minister responsible for Emergency Management BC". Canadian Forces personnel are on standby but Turner said that they will be a "last resort".

Enbridge Inc has taken a natural gas compressor station offline but it said on Wednesday that there had been no significant reduction in volumes shipped.
"They'll be deployed wherever they're needed in the province", the Wildfire Service explained.
"So what we have right now is a pretty tenuous supply-demand balance", Kosman said.
John Ranta, chair of the Thompson-Nicola Regional District, also faced questions about an apparent lack of preparation, at a press conference in Kamloops on Tuesday.
Speaking to the incidents of looting that have been reported upon, Linteau said the RCMP are monitoring those closely.
