Besides House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La., the other victims in the shooting were identified as Capitol Police officers Krystal Griner and David Bailey; Zach Barth, a staffer for Rep. Roger Williams, R-Texas; and Matt Mika, a lobbyist for Tyson Foods.

Williams later said on Twitter that Barth is receiving medical attention but is expected to make a full recovery.

Rep. Marc Veasey, who practices in Washington on the Democrats' team, tweeted about the incident, as did Texas Governor Greg Abbott.

Bleeding from his leg, he said he ran as fast as he could and jumped into the first base dugout with Rep. Williams attempting to take cover from the shooter.

The gunman has been identified as James T. Hodgkinson, 66, of IL.

Capitol Police Chief Matthew Verderosa said the two officers were in "good condition" and their injuries weren't life-threatening.

Barth said on "Fox & Friends" he was shagging fly balls in the outfield at the baseball practice in Alexandria, Virginia, when the shooting began.

Barton says Kelly was playing third base. He was texting - he was texting letting people know we were under fire and that we needed help.

When asked if campaign funds should be allocated for more protection for members of Congress, Williams said it was idea worth looking at.

Flores said security for lawmakers was increased after the election - adding that he was on high alert Wednesday because he believed a copycat attack could be possible.

Thursday's game will be held at Nationals Park, where the Washington Nationals play. Jeff Flake of Arizona took off his belt and "made a tourniquet around Zack's leg to stop the bleeding".

Republican Rep. Roger Williams' congressional district stretches from Austin to Fort Worth and includes Burnet County. A single shooter opened fire while a group of Republican representatives practiced for the traditional bipartisan Congressional baseball game.

The answer is the Congressional Baseball Game, a tradition among lawmakers going back to the early part of the 20th Century. If we don't play this baseball game and we give in, they win. In a televised address, President Donald Trump said that the shooter, identified by multiple news outlets as James Hodgkinson, 66, of IL, died from his injuries in the shooting.

He also confirmed that his staffer Zack Barth will be fine and has been released from the hospital. They saved all of our lives.
