DAVID Beckham has been slammed for his acting debut in pal Guy Ritchie's new film. Whether you're a purist and hate to see changes made to original source material, or if you find it hard to relate to old stories, I think you'll be able to agree that this version of the tale is a fresh new take.

King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword is released in cinemas May 19th, previews May 17th & 18th. The former athlete made his silver screen debut in his pal Guy Ritchie's drama alongside film stars Charlie Hunnam and Eric Bana, which will hit United Kingdom cinemas on May 19.

Beckham landing a role in "King Arthur: The Legend Of The Sword" - directed by his good friend Guy Ritchie - which is set to debut this May 19 in the United Kingdom, has been criticised by fans, judging by just a trailer released on Tueday.

The Village Voice calls it "soul-crushingly generic", while Time Out says, "you'll groan". "You kind of love that community feel".

Arthur, played by Charlie Hunnam, asks "Where do you want me?" as he approaches the Excalibur. Optimism is nowhere to be found in Ritchie's movie itself.

I want to be a part of something where I felt like I am wanted and where I feel like I'm part of a family. At Arizona State, Gonzalez last season won the Lou Groza Award, given yearly to the nation's top kicker.

"He just took it so seriously".

After the screening, the lobby of the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel was transformed into King Arthur's castle, complete with a throne, coat of arms and even a sword in a stone for the after-party.

Did the world need another King Arthur movie?

It was crucial that Arthur remain a man of the people no matter what changes he was going through.

It's not the first time Beckham has appeared in a film, he was in the Goal trilogy as himself and also appeared as a Russian projectionist in Ritchie's 2015 film, The Man from U.N.C.L.E. I have three projects set up at three, different studios.

He said Ritchie was a "wonderful" director - but that he panicked about his laid-back attitude ahead of filming.
